Has anyone done any mods to their seats? Has anyone purchased an aftermarket seat and can make some recommendations? After about 45 minutes of riding my butt goes numb. I would really like to be able to ride out a tank of gas comfortably. Thanks in advance.

If this is for a 250, you'll see it mentioned time & again that the removal of the metal plate beneath the seat foam seems to help considerably. I had the rider's seat & p-pad lowered on the 250 to approx. 1" thick padding & then reupholstered. Theory being that if I could sit "lower" in the saddle, it might be more comfortable. After paying $100 for the seat lowering, THEN I found out about that metal plate causing the majority of the discomfort! DOH! LOL!
Since that time, I've reupholstered my own seats for much cheaper. The foam can be cut by various methods & a good staple gun will work just fine for re-installing the upholstery. |

The only commercial made seat for the Rebel that I know of is made by Saddlemen. It is their Classic Explorer. According to their website, it has a gel pad already installed.. Other than that, follow GearJammer's lead on removing the metal plate, and maybe install more padding. I am looking at what it would take to mount a solo seat, maybe one made by Mustang for the Honda Shadow. What I'm looking at doing would be to mount the seat farther back for increased leg room. I've just been hesitating the start of such a project because of the high price of after market seats, for fear it won't work!

On my 450 reb i went with a Metal flake Tuck & Roll seat. I have it setup in such a way so it lifts from the rear so i can place my gloves underneath the seat or if i wish, can convert back to a springer seat setup.

Sure did. There a bit pricey but SWEET they are. (Sorry for the brief hijack) No problem brother, your post still has to do with seats, so i don't consider a hijacking. Chopper Rick |

I took out the metal plate and then added aditional foam and recovered it. Yes, it does look like an overstuffed pillow.
![]() I also replaced the pillion on my 450. the seat is wider with a lot more foam. ![]() http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/garywooster/Rebel%20450/450NewPillion2.jpg |
