For 2007 Honda is releasing the CRF150R and CRF150R Expert. They are based on the CRF450R and CRF250R. The engine differs dramatically from the engine of the quaint CRF150F. They Feature Honda’s revolutionary Unicam® four-valve engine and fully adjustable Showa suspension.
Dyna Glide Wide. I don’t really get what is funny about this commercial or how it sells you on the Harley lifestyle. It says for class on the video title so it may simply be an amateur making a pretend Harley commercial.
At least this one is kind of funny, it is probably a real Harley ad unlike the other one.
“The Secretary said the latest new data also shows that 51 percent of motorcyclists in the U.S. now wear helmets, up from 48 percent in 2005. She noted that motorcycle helmet use rose in the West between 2005 and 2006 (from 50 to 72 percent); and in the Northeast (from 42 to 47 percent). However, the use rate fell in the Midwest (from 53 to 50 percent) and in the South (from 49 to 45 percent). (The only helmets counted in the survey were those that comply with DOT standards.)
“All across America, every single day, helmets save lives,” said Nicole R. Nason, the NHTSA administrator.
Administrator Nason said NHTSA recently began to offer federal grants to states for programs to reduce the number of motorcyclist crashes. This year, for example, the agency will provide $6 million in grant funds to states for motorcycle safety training and motorist awareness programs. She said the agency will also create a public service announcement to promote helmet use and a consumer video for its website on how to choose a safe and well-fitting motorcycle helmet.”
The study also found that 14% of helmets worn don’t meet federal requirements
It looks like for states that require you to use helmets 83% do so, but 15% of those are not compliant helmets
Here are the states that require you to wear helmets:
Alabama, California, District of Columbia, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, West Virginia, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, Virginia
Interesting how few there are that’s only 20 states plus the District of Columbia. Some of the states not listed do have a helmet law but only require a subset of riders to wear helmets, others have no such law.
The new Ducati 1098 Superbike was voted ‘Most Beautiful Motorcycle of the Show’ at the 2006 EICMA show in Milan. Over 24,000 people voted in the survey hosted by the Italian motorcycle magazine ‘Motociclismo’. The results obviously held a great amount of discord as the 1098 won with only 30% of the votes. The show draws 530,000 people and is a huge event for Europeans. Many new bikes were introduced there this year such as the Moto Guzzi 940 Custom, Aprilia NA 850 Mana, and the Aprilia’s SL 750 Shiver. Ducati had actually been hoping to save the release of the 1098 for the show but it was leaked out earlier. However, they did release the 1098 in Tricolore (the colors of the Italian flag, red, white, and green). The Ducati ‘Tricolore’ tradition began in 1985 with the stunning 750 F1 and then continued with the limited edition 851. The latest ‘Tricolore’ is a 1098 S with the additional features of frame and wheels finished in traditional ‘racing gold’ colours. A power-increasing 102 dB Termignoni racing muffler kit with dedicated ECU is supplied with the Tricolore.

I guess now all we have to wait for is a shootout to see who wins between the ZX-6R, the R6 and the GSX-R600. I pity them having to make a decision between all these bikes as for the past few years they’ve all been neck and neck.
