The KT250 was Kawasaki's first production trials machine. It had a 69.5 x 65 mm piston port two-stroke engine based on that of the Kawasaki F11. It had a maximum power output of 16bhp @ 6,500 rpm and was the first Japanese trials bike to be competitive with those produced by the Spanish. Carburetion was via a 26mm Mikuni and it weighted in at a competitive 211.4lb. The machine as a whole was based on a racing works bike developed by European Trials champion Don Smith.
