The Yamaha IT 400 was a Single cylinder, two stroke, air-cooled Trial motorcycle produced by Yamaha in 1978. Max torque was 30.98 ft/lbs (42.0 Nm) @ 6000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 39.96 HP (29.8 KW) @ 7000 RPM.

Engine

A 83.8mm bore x 83.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 398.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive

The bike has a 5-Speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-discs.

Chassis

It came with a 3.00-21 front tire and a 150/80-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Drum in the front and a Drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Monoshock. The wheelbase was 56.3 inches (1430 mm) long.

The IT 400 motorcycle design is a tough nut for any manufactured to track. Punching the IT through tight wooded sections is easy.
