An Off-road motorcycle is a type of motorcycle which is capable of withstanding the normal abuse of off-road terrain without damage to frame or engine parts. It should not be cumbersome in riding or capable of becoming bogged down easily. Tires should have a knobby appearance and get good grip in a variety of soil types. The fenders should be raised to prevent brush or mud from collecting between tires and fenders. The engine should have adequate ground clearance and be protected by a skid plate. Typically the exhaust is raised to prevent contact with obstacles on the ground.
