It came with a 26 x 8-14; 489 II front tire and a 26 x 10-14; 489 II rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Single Lever 4-Wheel Hydraulic Disc in the front and a Hydraulic Rear Foot Brake in the rear. The front suspension was a Dual A-Arm 9-inch (22.9 cm) Travel while the rear was equipped with a Dual A-Arm, Rolled 10.25-inch (26 cm) Travel. The wheelbase was 52.99 inches (1346 mm) long.

The 2009 Polaris Sportsman 550 EPS LE is a very good choice for those in search of a middleweight ATV for hunting purposes and are not willing to make too much of a compromise on either performance or looks. Equipped with a lot of useful features, this quad is perfect for trail riding, hunting, or even working. Standard equipment includes a gun scabbard, camo wheels, hand and thumb warmers, electronic power steering, a winch and work lights.

The half-liter-class EFI engine is mated to an automatic transmission with engine braking and active descent control for safely tackling steep gradients, while independent suspensions and a nice clearance grant smooth passage over obstacles and rough terrain. Racking and towing capabilities are top-class so the 2009 Polaris Sportsman 550 EPS LE will be a great assistant for the hard working days, too.
