The engine was a liquid cooled twin, four-stroke. A 78.7mm bore x 78.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 850.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (sohc).

ChassisEdit

It came with a 26/8-14 front tire and a 26/10-14 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a dual a-arm while the rear was equipped with a dual a-arm, rolled irs. The Sportsman 850 SP was fitted with a 5.26 Gallon (19.90 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 769.41 pounds (349.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 52.99 inches (1346 mm) long.

The 2005 Sportsman 800 Twin EFI has a McPherson Strut front suspension with 8.2 inches of travel while the independent rear suspension has 9.5 inches of travel. The Sportsman 800 Twin EFI has front hydraulic disc brakes and rear hydraulic disc brakes.
