Talk:Honda CM400
From CycleChaos
It seems pretty clear that the CM was not a "standard" nor did it take its style from "cafe racers" of any era. It is in the custom/cruiser/special family of street bike, inspired by the chopped Harley Davidsons, Triumphs etc. of the 60s. The pull-back bars, step seat, kicked out fork and teardrop tank all say custom rather than standard. The CM400C is the most unmistakable with the pronounced teardrop shaped tank, but they all have the distinctive hallmarks of a custom/cruiser/special. For comparison look at the CB400 of the same years. It has the flat seat, flat bars, less raked fork and less tapered tank of a true standard.
