The Honda CL175 was a 4-stroke 2-cylinder 175cc street motorcycle built by Honda between 1968 and 1973. The CL designation indicated this model to be the "Scrambler" version which implied some off-road capability. (prior to actual dirt-bikes gaining popularity.) The CL series of bikes were actually street bikes with a higher rear fender, a braced handlebar, and a high-mount exhaust. It could reach a top speed of 80 mph (128 km/h). Claimed horsepower was 18.64 HP (13.9 KW) @ 9500 RPM.

The engine was a air cooled twin, four-stroke. A 52.0mm bore x 41.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 174.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead cams (OHC).
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet plate clutch.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 2.75-18. front tire and a 3.25-18. rear tire. Stopping was achieved via expanding brake (drum brake) in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The CL175K0 Scrambler was sold from 1968-1969 and came in one of three colors: Metallic Silver, Candy Orange, or Candy Blue. The gas tank and side covers were the basic color. The upper forks, fork boots, and headlight shell were black. The fenders and exhaust system were chrome. The bike had a tubular backbone frame and the cylinders were inclined from vertical. The CL175K3 Scrambler was sold from 1969 to 1970 and came in two available colors: Candy Orange or Candy Blue. The fenders were painted steel and the front fender wash high mounted above the wheel. The frame was a tubular cradle design. The cylinders were vertical. The GL175K1 Scrambler was sold from 1969 to 1970. It was similar to the CL175K3. Notice the short (one-person) seat and the enclosed chain surround. The headlight and speedo were enclosed in one unit (unlike the CL175 of the same vintage). The cylinders were vertical. The engine was a 174cc OHC parallel twin. The aggressive tires suggest more serious off-road use than the CL175. This model was not sold in USA or Canada.
