The Ducati 500 Desmo was a air-cooled, four-stroke, parallel twin cylinder, SOHC, 2 valves per cylinder Classic motorcycle produced by Ducati in 1979.
Engine
A 78.7mm bore x 78.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 497.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive
The bike has a 5-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the wet multi-disc, manual.
Chassis
It came with a 3.25-18 front tire and a 3.50-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 260mm discs in the front and a single 260mm disc in the rear. The front suspension was a hydraulic telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a dual shock absorbers. The 500 Desmo was fitted with a 1.32 Gallon (5.00 Liters) fuel tank.
1979 Ducati 500 Desmo
The 1978 Ducati 500 Desmo is a more mild-mannered version of the 500 series, suitable for riders who prefer comfort over raw strength. It comes with a small windscreen, dual front disc brakes and a single rear unit, a hydraulic telescopic front fork coupled to dual shock absorbers in the rear, a dual seat, a small, square headlight, cast-aluminum wheels, a chromed, dual exhaust system, analogue instrumentation dials, a small front fender and a steel frame.
In the engine department, it comes equipped with an air-cooled, four-stroke, 497cc, parallel twin cylinder powerplant paired to a five-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive.
