OverviewEdit
Honda CX 500 Custom
The CX500C appeared in 1981 with very-j few changes to the B model's engine but with such usual custom features as a high, wide handlebar, lower, stepped dualseat and a small fuel tankin this case holding 2'/2 gallons instead of the original 3% j gallons. Short megaphone-style silencers were another change, and the cowling around the headlamp had been abandoned in favor of conventional supports.
These modifications, and a smaller but fatter rear tire, added up to a 10 per cent | price increase (for UK buyers) over that of I Custom variation of the CX500 as seen in 1981 the ordinary CX. On-the-road differences included an 8mph drop in top speed, some loss in handling precision and more frequent fuel stops.
