The engine was a Air cooled cooled Four stroke, transverse four cylinder, DOHC, 2 Valve per cylinder.. The engine featured a 9.4:1 compression ratio.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 90/90-19 front tire and a 110/90-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Single 236mm disc in the front and a Single 140mm drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Dual shocks. The Z400 Custom was fitted with a fuel tank. The bike weighed just 166 kg / 366 lbs.
