Engine
The engine was a liquid cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 56.0mm bore x 40.4mm stroke result in a displacement of just 398.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).
Drive
The bike has a 6-speed transmission.
Chassis
It came with a 110/70-17 front tire and a 150/70-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The Bandit 400 was fitted with a 4.23 Gallon (16.00 Liters) fuel tank.
