Abresh, based in Milwaukee, built sidecars for Harley-Davidson for many years, starting with sidecar and van bodies made to special order. In 1936 it introduced an all-new steel-bodied sidecar, and carried on producing steel sidecars for the factory right up to 1966. The following year, Harley moved over to fiberglass bodies, laid up in the former boat-building facility at its Tomahawk plant.
