Harley did much subcontracting work for this well-known maker of tractors and other agricultural machinery during the Second World War. Among the more interesting projects was a powered snow-sledge, a suitable engine being the side-valve flat-twin XA motor that Harley-Davidson was developing during the war. This itself was heavily based on the German BMW and the XA motorcycle (of which a few were built for the military) and came complete with shaft drive. Two XA power units, with three-speed and reverse gearbox, were supplied to Allis-Chalmers, but no more was heard of the project.
