The engine was a Liquid cooled cooled Four stroke, longitudinal 65° V four , DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder. The engine featured a 13.6:1 [[compression ratio]].

==Chassis==
It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front [[tire]] and a 200/55 ZR 17 (alternative: 190/50 ZR 17; 190/55 ZR17) rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2 x Ø320 mm diameter floating stainless steel disc with lightweight stainless steel rotor and aluminum flange with 6 pins. Brembo monobloc radial calipers with 4 x Ø30 mm opposing. Sintered pads. Radial pump and metal braided brake hose in the front and a Single Ø220 mm diameter disc, Brembo floating caliper with two Ø32 mm isolated pistons. Pump with integrated tank and metal braided hose in the rear. The front suspension was a  Sachs upside-down fork, 43-mm stanchions (with Tin surface treatment). Low profile forged aluminum radial caliper mounting bracket. Adjustable spring preload, hydraulic compression and rebound damping while the rear was equipped with a Twin sided aluminum swingarm; mixed low thickness and sheet casting technology. Sachs monoshock adjustable: spring preload, wheelbase and hydraulic compression and rebound damping. APS progressive linkages.. The RSV4 RR was fitted with a 18.5 Liters / 4.9 US gal fuel tank. The bike weighed just 182 kg / 401 lbs.
