The engine was a liquid cooled single cylinder, two-stroke. A 39.9mm bore x 40.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 50.0 cubic centimeters.

It came with a 100/80-17 front tire and a 130/70-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc. floating caliper in the front and a single disc. floating caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic hydraulic fork with ø 37 mm stanchions while the rear was equipped with a swingarm in high resistance steel. hydraulic monoshock absorber. The SX50 was fitted with a 1.85 Gallon (7.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 53.74 inches (1365 mm) long.
