An assistant engineer at Harley-Davidson from 1923. He was a graduate engineer fresh from Buick. He resigned the following year, after Bill Harley and Arthur Davidson rejected a 45ci (750cc) side-valve prototype he had built. Constantine went to Excelsior, where he produced the successful Super X. Harley-Davidson's own 45ci twin was brought out in direct response.
