The '''[[BMW]] R 100 CS''' was a air-cooled, four-stroke, boxer two cylinder, 2 valves per cylinder Naked [[motorcycle]] produced by [[BMW]] between 1979 and 1984. It could reach a top speed of 121 mph (194 km/h). Max [[torque]] was 56.06 ft/lbs (76.0 Nm) @ 6000 RPM. Claimed [[horsepower]] was 70.0 HP (52.2 KW) @ 7000 RPM.  

Just a few years after introducing the [[BMW R90/6|BMW R90/6]] and [[BMW R90S|BMW R90S]], [[BMW|BMW]] upped the capacity of its range-topping flat-twins to 980cc for the 1977 season in the form of the '/7' series, comprising the R100/7 tourer, the cockpit-faired R100S sportster and the fully faired R100RS superbike. Within a couple of years the R100/7 'naked' had been re-titled 'R100T' and given the 65bhp engine previously fitted to the R100S, while from 1980 the latter gained the 70bhp engine that had been enjoyed by the R100RS from the start, becoming the R100CS.

==Engine==
The engine was a [[air cooled]] air-cooled, four-stroke, boxer two cylinder, 2 valves per cylinder. A 94.0mm [[bore]] x 94.0mm [[stroke]] result in a [[displacement]] of just 980.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv).  

==Drive==
The bike has a 5-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate, diaphragm spring.  

==Chassis==
It came with a 3.25 - H19 front [[tire]] and a 4.00 - H18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 260mm discs in the front and a 200mm drum in the rear. The front suspension was a  hydraulic telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a dual adjustable shocks. The R 100 CS was fitted with a 6.34 Gallon (24.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 57.72 inches (1466 mm) long.
