Engine

The engine was a oil & air cooled air/oil-cooled, four-stroke, boxer two cylinder, 4 valves per cylinder. A 101.6mm bore x 101.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1130.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (sohc).

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate, hydraulic.

Chassis

It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 170/60 ZR18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 276mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a BMW Motorrad Telelever while the rear was equipped with a BMW Motorrad Paralever. The R 1150 R was fitted with a 5.42 Gallon (20.50 Liters) fuel tank.
