The '''[[BMW]] R16 series 5''' was a two cylinder boxer, [[four-stroke]] Classic [[motorcycle]] produced by [[BMW]] between 1929 and 1934. It could reach a top speed of 78 mph (126 km/h). Claimed [[horsepower]] was 32.32 HP (24.1 KW) @ 4500 RPM. 
 
==Engine==
The engine was a [[air cooled]] two cylinder boxer, four-stroke. A 83.0mm [[bore]] x 68.0mm [[stroke]] result in a [[displacement]] of just 736.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv). 
 
==Drive==
The bike has a 3-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the dry-single plate-cable operated. 
 
==Chassis==
It came with a 3.5-26 front [[tire]] and a 3.5-26 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via expanding brake (drum brake) in the front and a cardan brake in the rear. The front suspension was a  leading link while the rear was equipped with a rigid. The R16 series 5 was fitted with a 3.7 Gallon (14.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 54.33 inches (1380 mm) long.

The 1929 BMW R 16 sports an air-cooled, four-stroke, 735cc, flat twin cylinder powerhouse mated to a three-speed manual transmission that can produce 25 horsepower at 4000 rpm. This classic Beemer came with features such as a sprung seat, a hard-tail rear suspension, a plate spring front fork, laced wheels, wide handlebars, a large, round headlamp and a dual exhaust system.
