The BMW R 62 was a air-cooled, four-stroke, single vertical cylinder Classic motorcycle produced by BMW in 1929. Claimed horsepower was 17.97 HP (13.4 KW) @ 3400 RPM.
Engine
A 83.8mm bore x 83.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 745.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive
The bike has a 3-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate.
Chassis
It came with a 26 x 3.5 front tire and a 26 x 3.5 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 200mm drum in the front and a external shoe brake at gearing (on cardan shaft) in the rear. The front suspension was a plate spring while the rear was equipped with a hard-tail, sprung seat. The wheelbase was 55.12 inches (1400 mm) long.
1929 BMW R 62
The 1928 BMW R 62 is considered by many to be the first touring motorcycle designed by the House of Munich. It had, at its heart, an air-cooled, four-stroke, 745cc, single vertical cylinder engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission, and could reach a maximum power output of 18 horsepower at 3400 rpm.
Standard fittings included a sprung seat, a rear luggage rack, a large headlight, a plate spring front fork, a hard-tail rear suspension, a drum brake in the front, an external shoe brake at the gearing on cardan shaft in the rear, laced wheels, a 12-liter (3.2-gallon) fuel tank and a blacked-out frame.
