Engine
A 71.1mm bore x 71.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 594.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive
The bike has a 4-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate.

Chassis
It came with a 3.50 - 19 front tire and a 3.50 - 19 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 200mm drum in the front and a 200mm drum in the rear. The front suspension was a  telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a plunger shocks, sprung seat.

The 1952 BMW R 68 SDT Special is the sportier version from the House of Munich, and, unlike the base model, has a high-mounted, single exhaust system, with a larger torpedo muffler, as well as improved performance and a single, sprung seat. In all other departments, it has the same features as the base model.

Power-wise, it can reach a maximum output of 35 horsepower at 7000 rpm from its air-cooled, four-stroke, 594cc, boxer twin cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission.
