The Bimota SB8K SantaMonica was a v2, four-stroke Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Bimota between 1998 and 2007. It could reach a top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h). Max torque was 77.82 ft/lbs (105.5 Nm) @ 8750 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 139.6 HP (104.1 KW) @ 9750 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a liquid cooled v2, four-stroke. A 98.0mm bore x 66.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 996.1 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a desmodromic valve control.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the multiplate in oil bath.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70-zr17 front tire and a 180/55-zr17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. bremo in the front and a single disc. bremo in the rear. The front suspension was a 46mm Paioli upside-down fork while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins fully-adjustable mono-shock. The SB8K SantaMonica was fitted with a 5.55 Gallon (21.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 385.81 pounds (175.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 54.72 inches (1390 mm) long.

The 1998 MY Bimota SB8R has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 996cc, 90-degree V-Twin powerplant paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 135 horsepower and 104 Nm of torque.

It also boasts standard features such as a single seat, a digital and analogue instrumentation panel, a small windscreen, a full-fairing, blacked-out, forged-aluminum wheels, dual headlamps, an under-seat exhaust system, Brembo brakes with dual front discs and a single disc in the rear and a race-grade suspension package with a 46mm Paioli inverted fork and a fully-adjustable Ohlins mono-shock.
