The Can-Am/ Brp Outlander MAX 650 DPS was a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, Rotax V-twin ATV produced by Can-Am/ Brp between 2013 and 2015.

A 81.3mm bore x 81.3mm stroke result in a displacement of just 650.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a CVT, P / R / N / H / L transmission. Power was moderated via the Automatic CVT.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a Carlisle Badland 26 x 8 x 12 in front tire and a Carlisle Badland 26 x 10 x 12 in rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 214 mm discs, 2-piston calipers, hydraulic in the front and a 214 mm discs, 2-piston calipers, hydraulic in the rear. The front suspension was a double A-arm while the rear was equipped with a Torsional Trailing Arm (TTI). The wheelbase was 50.98 inches (1295 mm) long.

On smooth, paved roads or on rough mountain trails, the 2012 Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 DPS feels at home. Designed for two-up off-road exploration, this ATV provides comfort-focused features, without sacrificing any of the series' acclaimed performance specs.

Digital instrumentation, an encoded key and easy-to-use dual-ratio automatic transmission are standard, just like the selectable 2/4WD with locking front differential, reverse and engine braking. Even more, as a functionality bonus, the rear rack has a modular construction so it will be fairly easy to remove the passenger backrest for accommodating a cargo box or big loads.

Three-way adjustable dynamic power steering is a nifty complement for the independent suspensions and generous ground clearance, adding to the fun factor when riding the 2012 Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 DPS: it will help you steer your way clear out of tight situations you might run into when far from the main roads.


2015 Can-Am/ Brp Outlander MAX 650 DPS[edit | edit source]

The engineers from Can-Am have taken a base Outlander, and added a convertible rack / seat system (CRS), in the embodiment of the 2015 MY Outlander MAX 650 DPS, which means it can be transformed from a one-up vehicle to one that can also accommodate a pillion, in a matter of seconds. In addition, for increased passenger comfort, they have added a passenger backrest.

At its heart lies a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 649cc, Rotax V-twin powerplant paired to a continuously variable transmission, and can produce 62 horsepower. Technology-wise, it comes with a tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS), as well as a Visco-Lok QE auto-locking front differential, to ensure it can overcome difficult obstacles without putting too much of a strain on the rider.
