The '''[[Ducati]] 1299 Panigale''' was a v2, [[four-stroke]] Sport Bike [[motorcycle]] produced by [[Ducati]] between 2015 and 2017. Max [[torque]] was 106.66 ft/lbs (144.6 Nm) @ 8750 RPM. Claimed [[horsepower]] was 200.62 HP (149.6 KW) @ 10500 RPM.  

==Engine==
The engine was a [[liquid cooled]] v2, four-stroke. A 116.0mm [[bore]] x 60.8mm [[stroke]] result in a [[displacement]] of just 1285.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a desmodromic [[valve]] control.  

==Drive==
The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the slipper and self-servo wet multiplate clutch with hydraulic control.  

==Chassis==
It came with a 120/70-zr17 front [[tire]] and a 200/55-zr17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. abs. floating discs. four-piston calipers. radially mounted. in the front and a single disc. abs. two-piston calipers. in the rear. The front suspension was a  marzocchi 50mm pressurized and fully adjustable usd fork with hard anodized aluminum lightweight slider while the rear was equipped with a fully adjustable sachs unit. adjustable linkage: progressive/flat. aluminum single-sided swingarm.. The 1299 Panigale was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 367.07 pounds (166.5 Kg). The wheelbase was 56.57 inches (1437 mm) long.  

The '''Ducati 1299 Panigale''' is a 1285cc [[Ducati]] [[sport bike]] unveiled at the 2014 [[EICMA|Milan Motorcycle Show]] and produced since 2015 as a successor to the 1198cc [[Ducati 1199|1199]]. The motorcycle is named after the small manufacturing town of [[Borgo Panigale]].<ref>

The 1299 wheelbase remains the same at 1437&nbsp;mm. The base version retains front forks by Marzocchi and Sachs shock absorber; The S variant has new semi-active Öhlins Smart EC suspension that can be switched between different driving modes to match road conditions.

The entire range is now equipped with new generation of electronics, including a new IMU, racing ABS and anti-wheelie. Switchable riding modes and traction controls, similar to the old version, have been ported over onto the new platform.

== Ducati Panigale R ==

Due to [[Superbike World Championship|World SuperBike]] engine displacement regulations, the engine in the R variant of 1299 Panigale retains the old 1,198&nbsp;cc displacement, with the addition of a tungsten-balanced crankshaft, titanium valves and con-rods and two-ring pistons. Power figures for the R are same as other 1299 models with 150.8&nbsp;kW (205&nbsp;hp) @ 11,500 rpm, torque is down 6.2&nbsp;lb-ft to 100.5&nbsp;lb-ft (136.2 Nm) @ 10,250 rpm.<ref name=duck>{{cite web |url=http://www.ducati.com/bikes/superbike/panigale_r/tech_spec.do//|title=Superbike Panigale R| publisher=[[Ducati]]|accessdate=September 4, 2016|date=2016}}</ref>

The Panigale R comes equipped with passive Öhlins suspension, a difference to the old R spec which used to be equipped with an active setup (DES). Compared to the other variants, wheelbase is increased to 1442&nbsp;mm (56.77) thanks to new steering geometry. It also comes equipped with an Termignoni titanium exhaust, and Ducati's data acquisition system. Weight is 357&nbsp;lb (162&nbsp;kg) dry or 406 pounds wet.<ref name=duck/>

==1299 Superleggera==
In November 2016, Ducati began selling the 1299 Superleggera (Italian for Superlight) in a limited run of 500 units. It succeeded the original 1199 Superleggera of 2014, which reduced weight by having a monocoque, composite carbon fiber chassis, magnesium engine casings, and titanium fasteners and exhaust system. ==2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale==

The 2015 MY Ducati 1299 Panigale features a bigger bore and thus, a bigger displacement, than the previous 1199 model. An increase of 87cc leads to a 1285cc displacement from the Superquadro L-Twin powerplant, which, oddly enough, does not result in an increase in horsepower, maintaining the gut-churning 205 horsepower as the previous models, but, to a higher, 144 Nm peak torque at a lower, 8750 rpm. Technology-wise, it features the most advanced ones the Italian engineers have developed, such as the Ducati Wheelie Control(DWC), Engine Braking Control (EBC), the DDA+ GPS ready, Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Ducati Traction Control (DTC) as well as 9.1 MP Cornering ABS as standard. This blend of 21st century technologies, derived straight from the racing department, ensure better lap times as well as increased rider safety and comfort, whether on the open road or on the race track.
