The 1977 Ducati 500 Sport Desmo was one of the most sought after sportbikes of its time, and had, at its heart, an air-cooled, four-stroke, 497cc, parallel twin cylinder desmodromic engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Standard features included dual front disc brakes and a single rear unit, a hydraulic telescopic front fork coupled to dual shock absorbers in the rear, a single seat, a small, round headlight, cast-aluminium wheels, a blacked-out, dual exhaust system, analogue instrumentation dials, a small front fender and a steel frame.
