The bike has a gear transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, multi-plate, hydraulic control.

It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 180/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 245mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm fully-adjustable Showa upside-down fork while the rear was equipped with a Showa adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage. The 749 was fitted with a 1.06 Gallon (4.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 414.47 pounds (188.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.91 inches (1420 mm) long.
