The engine was a liquid cooled liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valves per cylinder. A 99.1mm bore x 99.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 996.0 cubic centimeters.
DriveEdit
The bike has a 6-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, hydraulic.
ChassisEdit
It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/50 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Showa adjustable upside-down fork while the rear was equipped with a Showa adjustable monoshock. The 996 was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 436.52 pounds (198.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.51 inches (1410 mm) long.

The 2002 MY Ducati 996 comes with cast-aluminum wheels, dual headlights, a full-fairing with a small windscreen, a two-piece, dual seat, an under-seat dual exhaust system, a digital instrumentation display, Brembo brakes with dual front discs and a single disc in the rear and a Showa suspension package composed of a upside-down adjustable fork and an adjustable monoshock in the rear.
In the engine department it is powered by a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 996cc, 90-degree V-Twin powerplant paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can reach a maximum power output of 112 horsepower and 99 Nm of torque.
