The Ducati 998 was a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valves per cylinder Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Ducati between 2002 and 2003. Max torque was 72.28 ft/lbs (98.0 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 122.97 HP (91.7 KW) @ 9500 RPM.
Engine[edit | edit source]
The engine was a liquid cooled liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valves per cylinder. A 104.1mm bore x 104.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 998.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a desmodromic valve control.
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 6-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, multiplate, hydraulic.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/60 ZR17 front tire and a 190/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Ohlins upside-down fork, TiN-coating while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage. The 998 was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 436.52 pounds (198.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.51 inches (1410 mm) long.
2003 Ducati 998[edit | edit source]
The 2003 MY Ducati 998 has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 998cc, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic powerplant mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, and can reach a maximum power output of 123 horsepower and 97 Nm of torque.
Also, it comes with standard fittings such as a two-piece, dual seat, a full-fairing with a small windscreen, five-spoked, light alloy wheels, dual headlights, Brembo dual front disc brakes and a single disc in the rear, a digital instrument cluster and a race-grade, Ohlins suspension package, composed of a 43mm, TiN-coated upside-down fork and an adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage in the rear.
