Engine
A 91.4mm bore x 91.4mm stroke result in a displacement of just 904.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive
The bike has a 6-speed, manual transmission.
Chassis
It came with a 120/70-17 front tire and a 170/60-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm fully-adjustable upside-down fork while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage.
1997 Ducati Monster 900S
The S-suffixed version of the Monster 900 boasts even more maneuverability, thanks to its revised suspension package, which now includes a race-grade Ohlins adjustable rear monoshock with progressive linkage. This revised suspension also allowed its ground clearance and seat height to be raised, and has also been fitted with a small, headlight-mounted fairing with a small windscreen.
In the engine department, it received a power boost, now boasting 74 horsepower instead of the 65 developed by the base model, which translates into even more thrills for the rider.
