The Ducati SUPER SPORT DESMO was a 4-stroke, V-twin-cylinder light-alloy heads and cylinders (cast-iron liner) Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Ducati in 1975. Max torque was 56.8 ft/lbs (77.0 Nm) @ 6500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 80.06 HP (59.7 KW) @ 7500 RPM.

A 86.4mm bore x 86.4mm stroke result in a displacement of just 863.9 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a Gears transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet Multi-plate.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 3,50 x 18 front tire and a 4,60 x 18' rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Double discs 280 mm in the front and a Single disc 229 mm in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic hydraulic fork while the rear was equipped with a Swingarm with adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers. The SUPER SPORT DESMO was fitted with a 1.32 Gallon (5.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 59.09 inches (1501 mm) long.

After the round case twins 750 GT, Sport and Super Sport Desmo entered the scene, Ducati management found that the line-up lacked a super sport bike capable of competing with the Japanese superbikes with over 750 cc and the Ducati 900 Super Sport was developed to fill that gap.
