The film in which Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper ride choppers across America under big blue skies, 'looking for adventure' as the Steppenwolf soundtrack goes, also featured one of the most famous Harleys of all time - Captain America. The appearance of this definitive chopper, with its high bars, raked forks and easy riding stance, made a huge impression on riders, not just in America but all over the world. The film combined late 1960s hedonism with a traditional, almost Wild West theme of two drifters in search of freedom. The only difference was, instead of horses, they rode Harley-Davidsons.
