A long-standing export manager from 1913, Eric von Gumpert negotiated the first export of Harley-Davidsons to Britain, and was involved in many of the early export markets, including Europe and Japan. As a veteran employee, he prepared Harley-Davidson's submission to the Tariff Commission in 1951, applying for higher import duties on bikes brought into the USA.
