The national Harley-Davidson Dealers Alliance, formed in 1983 by 32 American Harley-Davidson dealers in protest to the new Bonus Bucks incentive. Three hundred had joined within two years. 81 per cent of whom declared they had no confidence in Harley-Davidson management; but over the years, relations did mend. The company's Dealer Advisory Council became more democratic and communication between the company and its US dealers improved.
