The Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight was a v2, four-stroke custom / cruiser motorcycle produced between 1988 and 2019. It could reach a top speed of 109 mph (175 km/h). Max torque was 73.02 ft/lbs (99.0 Nm) @ 3500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 63.56 HP (47.4 KW) @ 6000 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a air cooled v2, four-stroke. A 88.9mm bore x 96.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1202.0 cubic centimeters. The engine featured a 10.0:1 compression ratio. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via belt. Power was moderated via the multi-plate with diaphragm spring in oil bath.

Chassis

It came with a 130/90-b16 front tire and a 150/80-b16 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc. dual-piston. optional abs. in the front and a single disc. single-piston. optional abs. in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic fork while the rear was equiped with a twin shocks. The Sportster Forty-Eight was fitted with a 2.09 Gallon (7.90 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 544.54 pounds (247.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 58.86 inches (1495 mm) long.
