Harley-Davidson's current Big Twin still an air-cooled 45-degree V-twin with hydraulic tappets, but really an all-new engine compared to the Evolution, which it replaced over 1998/99. The biggest Harley yet, at 88ci (1450cc), with a bigger bore/shorter stroke, twin camshafts and a choice of carburettors or fuel injection. A balance shaft version, the 88B, was launched in 2000, though the 883/1200 Sportsters are sticking with their Evolution engines.
