The Honda CB500 was a four-cylinder-inline, four-stroke Naked motorcycle produced by Honda between 1971 and 1973. It was similarly styled to the CB750K, but smaller and lighter, with an output of 50 hp and a manufacturer's specified top speed of 102 mph. Claimed horsepower was 46.0 HP (34.3 KW) @ 8600 RPM. It was produced until 1973 with minor revisions each year. In 1974 it was replaced by the CB550K.


Engine

The engine was a liquid cooled twin, four-stroke. A 67.0mm bore x 66.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 471.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet multiplate.

Chassis

It came with a 120/70-17 front tire and a 160/60-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. wave disc. two-piston calipers. in the front and a single disc. wave disc. single-piston caliper. in the rear. The front suspension was a 41mm fork while the rear was equipped with a pro-link single shock with nine-position spring preload adjustability. The CB500F was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 388.01 pounds (176.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.51 inches (1410 mm) long.


1971


The Honda 500 Four designated CB500K0 (also called "Super Sport 500") was sold in 1971. Three colors were available: Candy Jet Green, Candy Garnet Brown, and Star Light Gold. The fuel tank panel was black. The exhaust was a 4-into-4 system. The engine was a 498cc SOHC inline 4-cylinder with 4 carburetors. The transmission was a 5-speed. The serial number began CB500-1000001.


1972


The CB500K1 "500 Four" (also called "Super Sport 500") was sold in 1972. It was available in one of three colors: Candy Jet Green (also called Candy Jade Green) with Black, Candy Garnet Brown with Black, or Candy Gold with Black. The gas tank panel was black. The exhaust was a 4-into-4 system. The engine was a 498cc SOHC inline 4-cylinder with 4 carburetors. The transmission was a 5-speed. The serial number began CB500-2000001.

1973


The CB500K2 "500 Four" (also called "Super Sport 500") was sold in 1973 in one of three colors: Candy Bucchus Olive with Black, Flake Sunrise Orange with Black, or Maxim Brown Metallic with Black. The gas tank panel was black. The instruments were enlarged and tilted toward the rider. The exhaust was a 4-into-4 system. The engine was a 498cc SOHC inline 4-cylinder with 4 carburetors. The transmission was a 5-speed. The serial number began CB500-2100001.
