The Honda Hawk 250 CB72 was sold from 1959 to 1966. Three colors were available: Blue with Silver, Scarlet Red with Silver, and Black with Silver. The fuel tank, fork covers, headlight shell, and frame were painted the basic color. The fenders and side covers were silver. The tank panel was chrome with rubber knee pads. In the first few years, the handlebars were flat with no rise in them. Later there was a slight rise. The engine was a 247cc 4-stroke OHC parallel twin with two carburetors. The transmission was a 4-speed. The serial number began CB72-100001.

The 1967 MY Honda CB 72 is a versatile classic machine, capable of fitting the needs of every rider age or experience, and has, at its heart, an air-cooled, four-stroke, 247cc, twin cylinder powerhouse, mated to a four-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, and can produce a claimed 20 horsepower and 18 Nm of torque.
 
Standard fittings include a drum braking system in the front and in the rear, an one-piece, two-up seat, wide handlebars, a chromed exhaust system, laced wheels, a round headlight, a pressed steel frame, analogue instrumentation dials, and a suspension package composed of a hydraulic telescopic fork and dual shocks in the rear.
