The CBR900RR is a large displacement sportbike manufacturered by [[Honda]].  The CBR900RR was first introduced in 1993.  In the UK and non-US markets it is commonly known as the [[Fireblade]].  The lead engineer on the project at [[Honda]] was [[Tadeo Baba]].  In 1995 it was bumped up to 918cc and in 2000 it became the [[Honda CBR929RR|CBR929RR]].  Two years later it was bumped up again to become the [[Honda CBR954RR|CBR954RR]].  In 2004 it was replaced altogether with the [[Honda CBR1000RR|CBR1000RR]] which doesn't bear as much resemblence to it's predecessors.

For a long time [[Honda]] remained king of the [[motorcycle]] world with its transverse four. Then in 1982 Honda attempted, with success, to venture into the field of the V4. But in 1992 the giant Japanese company returned to its roots with an all-new transverse four, the CBR900RR, equipped with all the necessary assets to make it a great success.
 
==Craze for Superlatives==
The Japanese manufacturers have definitely got the craze for superlatives, trying to outdo each other with ever more repetitive model designations. The new Honda CBR900RR declares straight away its relationship with the legendary CB and follows up with no fewer than three "R"s; the final "RR" presumably signifies "Road Racing."
