The Honda CG125 was a single cylinder, four-stroke Naked motorcycle produced by Honda between 1976 and 2007. It could reach a top speed of 71 mph (115 km/h). Max torque was 7.23 ft/lbs (9.8 Nm) @ 7000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 10.73 HP (8.0 KW) @ 9000 RPM.
The Honda CG125 is a commuter bike made by Honda of Japan. It has been in production since 1976 and is currently manufactured in Brazil (and has been since around 2000). It is rarely if ever imported to the US.
Engine[edit | edit source]
The engine was a air cooled single cylinder, four-stroke. A 56.5mm bore x 49.5mm stroke result in a displacement of just 124.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv).
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet, multiplate with coil springs.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 2.75-18 front tire and a 90/90-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The front suspension was a 31mm telescopic fork, 102mm axle travel while the rear was equipped with a dual dampers with 5-step adjustable spring preload, 80mm axle travel. The CG125 was fitted with a 3.57 Gallon (13.50 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 251.33 pounds (114.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 51.06 inches (1297 mm) long.

Over its lifetime, the CG125 has received numerous enhancements and tweaks:
- The electrics were upgraded from 6V to 12V
- An electric start was added in 2001, originally alongside the original Kick start and replacing it completely in 2004.
2004 saw a number of further changes:
- The front drum brake was replaced by a disc brake
- A new instrument cluster, including a fuel gauge for the first time, replaced the old square unit.
- The fuel capacity was increased to 13l
- The styling was modernized
- The chain casing was dropped in favor of a chain guard
This last change is one of the very few changes that sacrificed functionality in favor of aesthetics.
The CG125 is powered by a very fuel efficient 124cc single cylinder 4-stroke OHV engine that has changed little over the years. With careful use, it is quite capable of achieving more than 100mpg, and over it's comparatively long history the CG has earned itself as a reputation as a "bullet proof" machine.
Due to its design success, several direct copies of the CG125 have sprung up (mostly from Chinese and Korean manufacturers), such as the Hongdou CG125, the Champ Commuter, the Warrior Dispatch and the Kymco Pulsar125.
In Brazil and in the UK, it is easily the most widely used beginner motorcycle by training schools.

Honda CG125 was not sold in the USA or Canada. The tank design is like the 1974 models.
