The engine was a air cooled twin, four-stroke. A 53.0mm bore x 53.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 234.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (SOHC).

It came with a 3.00-18 front tire and a 130/90-15 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. two-piston calipers. in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The front suspension was a 33mm fork while the rear was equipped with a dual shocks with five-position spring-preload adjustability. The Rebel was fitted with a 2.6 Gallon (9.84 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 306.44 pounds (139.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 57.09 inches (1450 mm) long.

The Honda Rebel 250 CMX250C A '85 (CMX250C AC '85 in California) was sold in 1985. Two colors were available: Candy Supreme Red and Pearl Stellar Black. The fuel tank wing decal is brown, orange, and yellow. The side covers were chrome plated. The frame and control levers were black. The engine was a 234cc 4-stroke OHC parallel twin with a 5-speed transmission. The California serial number began JH2MC1311FK000001 while the rest of the United States models began JH2MC1302FK000001.

The CMX250C'86 Rebel was sold in 1986 in either Pearl Stellar Black or Candy Eiger Blue. The black bike was the same as the 1985 model. The blue bike's tank decal was black, gray, and silver. Also the "REBEL" decal was silver and black; and the frame was black. The frame and control levers were black. The side covers were chrome plated. The engine was a 234cc 4-stroke OHC parallel twin with a 5-speed transmission. The serial number began JH2MC130*GK000001.

The CMX250C'86 Rebel 250 Limited was sold in 1986 in Pearl Stellar Black. The gas tank and rear fender striping was gold. the cylinder head cover, headlight, and speedometer rims were gold. The gas tank cap and carburetor cover were gold. The engine cases, fork legs, and handlebar levers were chrome plated. The side covers were chrome plated. The engine was a 234cc 4-stroke OHC parallel twin with a 5-speed transmission. The serial number began JH2MC132*GK000001.

The CMX250C'87 Rebel was sold in 1987 in Black or Candy Wineberry Red. The black bike's tank decal was dark, medium, and light brown. The red bike's tank decal was gray, silver, and white. The red bike's frame was also red. The side covers were chrome plated. The serial number began JH2MC130*HK200001.

The CMX250C'96 Rebel was sold in 1996 in the USA in just one color: Magna Red. This bike had been absent from the Honda lineup for nine years. In Canada the color scheme was black and silver and the tank was different (bottom picture). The seat height was extremely low. The serial number began JH2MC130*TK300001.

The CMX250C'97 Rebel was sold in 1997 in one of two colors: Black with Enamel Cream and Pearl Shining Yellow with White. The serial number began JH2MC130*VK400001.
