The throttle response of the 121 horsepower 1100 cc V-twin is fantastic, as is its exceptional low end torque and smoothness. The bike has seamless power and engine smoothness compared to in-line 4-cylinder bikes of the same era. This bike is extremely powerful and pulls hard at any speed. Even in overdrive the torque is utterly impressive. The Honda V65 Sabre was one of the fastest bikes of its time. The April 1984 ''[[Cycle Guide]]'' magazine reported 0-to-60 mph time of 3.1 seconds and 1/4-mile time of 10.857 seconds @ 125.65 mph. It was very similiar to the [[Honda VF1100C|V65 Magna]].
