The Honda VTR1000 SP-2 was a v2, four-stroke Sport touring motorcycle produced by Honda between 1997 and 2006. It could reach a top speed of 167 mph (269 km/h). Max torque was 75.24 ft/lbs (102.0 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 129.95 HP (96.9 KW) @ 10000 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a liquid cooled v2, four-stroke. A 100.0mm bore x 63.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 999.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet, multiplate with coil springs.

Chassis

It came with a 120/70-zr17 front tire and a 190/50-zr17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm inverted cartridge-type fork with adjustable spring preload, and compression and rebound damping while the rear was equipped with a pro-link with gas-charged integrated remote reservoir damper offering adjustable preload, and compression and rebound damping. The VTR1000 SP-2 was fitted with a 4.76 Gallon (18.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 427.7 pounds (194.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.91 inches (1420 mm) long.

The 2002 VTR1000F Firestorm is a nifty move Honda made to adapt the brutal RC51 to the street. With power and torque now delivered in a more friendly, predictable manner, this bike makes a more usable city machine. It can even double as a muscular commuter, with the ageless attitude of the classic v-twin.

Track-derived suspensions and brakes bring racing-grade performance to the everyday rides, while the half-fairing and windscreen provide good weather protection for longer hauls.
