The engine was a air cooled single cylinder, four-stroke. A 92.0mm bore x 75.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 498.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead cams (ohc).

The bike has a 5-speed transmission.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 100/90-18 front tire and a 110/90-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a expanding brake in the rear. The front suspension was a 35mm telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Dual Showa shock. The XBR500 was fitted with a 5.28 Gallon (20.00 Liters) fuel tank.
