Honda XL125


The elemental 124cc SOHC single that powers the Honda XL125S is simple, tor-quey, economical and may well be the most time-tested engine in all of motorcycling. the power plant has maintenance-free electronic ignition, a six-speed close-ratio transmission, aluminum skid plate for case protection when traversing rocky terrain and chain final drive.

A leading-axle fork and rear lay-down shocks provide ample suspension travel, and the universal-tread tires stick well on or off the road. The XL has such street-legal amenities as flex-mounted turn signals, large tail- and headlights, rearview mirrors and large-capacity fuel tank.

The Honda XL125K0 was sold in 1974. It came in just one color combination: Fire Red with Silver Metallic and Black. The gas tank was red; the muffler heat shield and side covers were black. The fenders were silver painted plastic. The "XL125" decal on the side covers were yellow. It featured a tachometer and a downswept exhaust system. The engine was an OHC single cylinder displacing 122cc linked to a 5-speed transmission. The cylinder head was a one piece unit. The serial number began XL125-1000001.

The XL125K1 was sold in 1975 and came in one color combination: Tahitian Red with Silver Metallic and Black. The engine was an OHC single cylinder displacing 124cc. The cylinder head was a 2-piece unit. The serial number began XL125-1200023.
