OverviewEdit
Kawasaki GT 750
One of the most underrated Kawasakis was the European-specification KZ750P,
or GT750, that was built between 1982 and 1987. Using a slightly detuned version
of the 1982 GPz750 engine, producing 78bhp at 9,500rpm, the GT750 offered
maintenance-free shaft-drive in a similar chassis to the GPz. Because of the
shaft-drive the engine could be rubber mounted at all four points. The 19" and
18" wheels were similar to the GPz, as were the triple 226mm disc brakes.
The rear shock absorbers were air assisted. There was also a small rear rack
included in the specification.
While there were some problems with broken rear sub-frames on early models,
the GT750 was extraordinarily reliable and a very competent all-round
motorcycle. For the US for 1982 the shaft-drive 750 was an LTD, the KZ750N or
Spectre. At 74bhp at 9,000rpm, power was slightly lower than the GT750.
