The Kawasaki J1 was an 85cc street motorcycle manufactured by Kawasaki from 1965 through 1968 and consisted of 4 variants. It was the first Kawasaki model with a rotary disc valve engine and gave rise to the Kawasaki D1 by boring out the J1.

J1, J1D, and J1L

The Kawasaki J1 and Kawasaki J1D have no Superlube System. The J1D has an electric starter. Made from 1965-1968, it had a street-style exhaust sweeping near the ground.

J1T and J1TL

The Kawasaki J1T and Kawasaki J1L, a touring version, shared the same design but had a half chain case, and white sidewall tires. Made from 1965-1967.except for the upswept exhaust system giving these models the slight appearance of having some trail or off-road capabilities.

J1TR and J1TRL

Trail version of the Kawasaki J1 and Kawasaki J1L, with upswept exhaust pipe, skid plate, and knobby tires. The J1TR and J1TRL were made from 1966-1967.

J1M

The Kawasaki J1M is a very rare motocross motorcycle from the B8M era. Very few J1Ms are found in America, because in 1966 very few were even shipped over. The 88cc two-stroke engine, with rotary valve and 4-speed transmission produced 11 hp @ 7,500 rpm.
