The introduction of the [[Suzuki Hayabusa]] in 1999 further caused it to lose its status as the most modifiable drag motorcycle. Kawasaki introduced its own less successful speed challenger in the [[Kawasaki ZX1200A|ZX-12R]] in 2000.
