+The original [[Kawasaki ZX1100C|ZX1100C]] made from 1990-1992 was upgraded drastically to form the ZX1100D.  The bike that would be the fastest bike in the world for many years.  From 1993 onward the bike changed mainly it's colors.
+In 1997 Honda introduced the [[Honda CBR1100XX|CBR1100XX Blackbird]] which made the ZX-11 no longer the fastest motorcycle.  The introduction of the [[Suzuki Hayabusa]] in 1999 further caused it to lose its status as the most modifiable drag motorcycle.  Kawasaki introduced its own less successful speed challenger in the [[Kawasaki ZX1200A|ZX-12R]] in 2000.  The ZX-11 was continued to be produced unchanged until 2002 as it served more of a [[sport touring]] niche than the ZX-12R with its far more comfortable riding position and seat.  These features of the bikes design would later show up in the [[Kawasaki ZX1400|ZX-14]]
